Fishing
With over 3,000 lakes and ponds and 6,000 miles of rivers, fishing is a year-round sport in the Adirondacks. Lake Placid has excellent fishing for rainbow and lake trout, bass and pan fish. Fly fishermen, head to Wilmington where you’ll find 6 ½ miles of the Ausable River’s deep pools which are designated as catch and release waters. The Saranac chain of lakes is the destination for those looking for that elusive giant catch. Head to Lake Champlain, the 6th largest freshwater lake in the U.S., it is nothing less than a fishing mecca.
